- Copy down the learning target
- Reread yesterday’s book (fluency)
- Go over learning target and explanation of the lesson
- Mrs. Quinones models the skill (comprehension skill)
- Together we practice the skill
- New book is introduced: genre, word work (vocabulary)
- Students take turns reading out loud and monitoring their reading while using the 3 cues of reading
- Students practice the skill independently or in groups using the new book of the day
- Students respond to a short response twice a week (writing)
- DOK (Depth of Knowledge) questions are asked and answered throughout the lesson
