    Budget REVOTE Results from Tuesday, June 20, 2023

    2023-24 Unofficial Annual Budget Vote Results:

    The following are the unofficial results of the Annual Budget Vote and Election for the East Ramapo Central School District:
    Board Member election results are as follows: 
    Sherry McGill was re-elected to a 3-year term as a Trustee in Ward 3 with 424 votes, to 116 votes for Christopher Poole, to begin July 1, 2023. 
    Simon Koth was re-elected to a 3-year, 1-and-a-half months term as a Trustee in Ward 5 to begin May 17, 2023. 
    Moshe Samuel Feder was elected to a 3-year term as a Trustee in Ward 8 to begin July 1, 2023. 
    2023-24 Budget Total Votes (which includes in-person votes and absentee votes): 3,774.
    "No" Votes: 1,896, "Yes" Votes: 1,851. The 2023-24 school budget was defeated.

    2023 Election Information:

    The Budget Vote & Trustee Election is May 16, 2023.

    ALL registered voters in ALL wards can vote on the budget.

     voteIn 2023, only registered voter residents of the following wards will vote to elect a trustee for the Board of Education who runs in their ward:

    • Ward 3 - current incumbent trustee is Sherry McGill
    • Ward 5 - current incumbent trustee is Simon Koth
    • Ward 8- current incumbent trustee is Mark Berkowitz

    Successful candidate for Ward 3 elections will serve for the term from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2026.
    Successful candidate for Ward 5 elections will serve for the term from May 17, 2023 to June 30, 2026.  
    Successful candidate for Ward 8 elections will serve for the term from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2026.  

    In compliance with the Federal Court Order registered voter residents of the other wards (1, 2, 4, 6, 7 and 9) will only vote on the budget. They cannot vote for trustee candidates in 2023.

    Who Can Vote?      

    To vote, a person must be:

    • a citizen of the United States;
    • a resident of the School District for at least 30 days immediately preceding the election;
    • 18 years of age or older;
    • personally registered for School District Elections or registered for General Elections with Rockland County.

    To vote for a Board of Education Trustee candidate, a person must:

    • Meet the above vote criteria;
    • Be a resident of the Ward in which the Trustee candidate is running.

    If you have not voted in a School District vote/election in the past four years, or if you have not voted in a General Election in the past five years, you must register to vote.

    We encourage voter to register with the Rockland County Board of Elections. That registers you to vote for all Primary, General, School and Library votes as well as allowing a voter to register for the permanent disabled absentee list to automatically receive absentee ballot. Keep in mind that the District does not control the time for registrations to be processed by the Rockland County Board of Elections.

    You may register for East Ramapo Central School District votes only, at the office of the District Clerk  by clicking here to download a Personal Registration form.  The completed form and a copy of a government issued ID must be returned to the District Clerk's Office at the Administration Building, 105 South Madison Avenue, Spring Valley, NY 10977 by 7:00 p.m.on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 to vote on the May 16, 2023 Budget & Trustee Election.  We can copy your ID for you.
