Welcome

      My name is Stephanie Reiss, as you already know, and I currently teach Coding, SAT prep, Advanced Algebra and Intro to Statistics at Spring Valley High School.  I have always wondered what my wikipedia page would look like and now is a perfect opportunity, so here goes...

Early Life

      I grew up on a dairy farm in Montgomery, NY to two Jewish parents.  My father emigrated from Germany as the war was beginning in 1936 at the age of six.  He knew no English.  My mother was born in the Bronx to a father and mother from Poland who could not read English.  My mother was a teacher before becoming a full time mom, and my father was a dairy farmer, as I alluded to in the beginning.

Career

     I  attended SUNY Binghamton where I majored in mathematics with a minor in economics.  After working in an office as an actuary (an insurance statistician) for a few years, I decided to go back to get a degree in teaching.  I attended Fordham University Fellowship program in NYC for my masters degree. I have been working in East Ramapo ever since then. 

Personal Life

     I am married and have two children, a boy and a girl, and three, yes THREE, cats.  I am also the co-advisor of the GSA, the gay straight alliance, with Mr. Mulgrew.
